Happy New Year Lovejoy Families!

Your LES PTO Executive Board hopes that you have all had a wonderful holiday break and are, like us, looking forward to a brand new beginning in 2021.  A big "thank you" goes to our Room Representative Chair Raegan Mosty for all of her time and effort spent in providing/wrapping all the holiday ornaments for the 2020 holiday parties.  We also want to send a special note of gratitude to all of the grade level representatives for their time and effort in coordinating the snacks for the holiday parties as well.

Congratulations to the Sides family!  The Sides family won the first spot in the afternoon carline for the 3rd grading term.  Thank you Sides family for your ongoing and continued support of the LES PTO!

Our monthly Spirit Nights kick off this month at Chik-fil-A on Stacy Road all day and night on January 20th. Holiday Party Success!

Lovejoy PTO Room Rep Chair Raegan Mosty and her room reps did an amazing job with the holiday parties!  Every child both virtual and face to face had the opportunity to be included in their grade level celebration.  Many included holiday crafts like ornaments, hot cocoa and pretzels for snack, and many other fun little surprises.

Thank you to the volunteers who made this possible!!

New Year's Resolutions

With a New Year upon us it is a great time to reflect back on 2020 and pick a resolution for the coming year. Choosing a resolution can be empowering for kids and can do great things for their self esteem. It's a great way to start fresh and embrace a new and healthy habit. An attainable goal such as one of the following can be chosen together:

Eating Better

Exercise

Commit to Kindness

Less Screentime

World Braille Day- January 4th

World Braille Day is a reminder of the importance of accessibility and independence for those who are blind or visually-impaired.  The reality is that many everyday establishments - restaurants, banks, hospitals - aren't equipped with braille menus, statements, or bills.  That means people with blindness or a vision impairment aren't given the freedom to choose their own dinner...or to keep their finances private.

National Mentoring Month- January 1-31

National Mentoring Month is a campaign aimed at celebrating those who serve as a mentor.

Mentoring is linked to improved academic, social and economic prospects for your people, and that ultimately strengthens our community.

Mentors can play a powerful role in providing young people with the tools to make responsible decisions, stay focused and engaged in school, and reduce or avoid risky behavior like skipping school, drug use and other negative activities.

Mentoring is also an effective professional practice in education that help facilitate success and growth in those new to the teaching profession.

We celebrate those who serve us as mentors to our students and our new teachers.

***Staff Birthdays***

We want to wish these staff members a SPECIAL "Happy Birthday!"

Please help celebrate these wonderful educators!  Thank you for making a difference in our children’s lives!

Leopard Drive

The Leopard Drive is our annual fundraiser that allows the PTO to bring great programs and events to Lovejoy Elementary.   No selling magazines or chocolate bars!  Keep it simple with a donation to the Leopard Drive - every dollar raised stays at LES to benefit all students.  We greatly appreciate your generosity and support!

LES PTO sponsors many great programs that we hope to continue in 2020-2021.
