Hello Leopard families!
As you all have no doubt heard, we are helping LES throw a huge "Goodbye Bash" from 12-3 on Thursday, May 27th! Please see further down in this newsletter for details of the event. Your grade level representatives will soon be distributing Sign-Ups for 30 minute volunteer spots and goods needed. This event is completely staffed by PTO volunteers and your participation is vital to its success, so please consider signing up for a short volunteer shift!
THANK YOU to all those who have donated goods and helped with Teacher Appreciation Week. A very special thank you to Abby Gray our Hospitality chair who has had the most amazing ideas to treat our LES staff. Another especially HUGE THANK YOU to the Konecny family who donated the Maggiano's dinner to the entire LES staff. A special congratulations to Anna Sides as well for receiving the PTO Citizenship Award for all the financial support she shows our PTO and LES and for being a courageous advocate for our community! Also, a great BIG thank you to Lovejoy HVAC and the Havens family for donating popsicles for field day! Finally, a special thanks to Carmen Safstrom and Lindsey Wickfor organizing a photo booth and contacting Kona Ice who is donating their snow cone truck free of charge to our LES "Goodbye Bash"!
We will meet via Zoom on Monday May 17th in our last General Membership meeting of the year. At this meeting, we will announce the LES Alumni Scholarship winner, vote on the executive board's recommendation for dispersement of any remaining funds, announce our LES board members on both the PES and HES PTO boards, and wrap up with our "Year in Review" report compiled by our Historian Lynn Farrell.
Finally, I know many of us have mixed feelings about the closure of LES next year. I think this could be a wonderful opportunity for us all at the elementary level to become more united. Next year, our elementary school PTO boards will be meeting and planning in an effort to help further unite our elementary communities. Let's rally around the idea of "One Heart, One Lovejoy" and get excited about the ability to broaden our friend circles and build our united LISD community!
Have a wonderful May and I look forward to seeing you in our General Member Zoom meeting on the 17th and on the 27th at LES's "Goodbye Bash"!
